The whole world is on a journey and acknowledging we have an influence on the direction and destination is a good start! I met with a couple who helped found 'Beyond War' in the 80s which taught that war is obsolete and that we are one (which means not posing any enemies). They are still optimistic on the opportunities such chaos can create. Surely there are enough of us who will stand up for the right choice when it clearly comes between world war and world peace.<BR/><BR/>I loved you presence at the UU service and have enjoyed your thoughts and actions in your own neighborhood. I think my "shift" this summer has been mainly surrounding class and race here in Arizona.<BR/><BR/>For the majority of the summer, I've been in the trenches with mainly immigrant workers, and unions who battle with bureaucracy and the corporate world to assure their human dignity.<BR/><BR/>The most striking moment for me was at a theatre performance, when I realized that I was in a predominantly white, upper-middle class environment for the first time all summer, and felt alienated and uncomfortable. I have never felt such solidarity for those in the working class and racial "minority." <BR/><BR/>I think part of our ministry is to continue to show love to all. To be a "vessel of love" to the white upper-middle folk.
